The Basket Spot

I live in Orlando, Florida, and we have a lot of fine restaurants throughout the area. One of our local places is known for its great chocolate desserts. They have this cake they call “Death by Chocolate”. It is a blending of something like five or six different kinds of chocolate: chocolate cake with dark chocolate frosting, white chocolate filling, and several other “highlights”. It’s something similar to the Chocolate Crush gift basket.  I always joke that it should come with an insulin chaser!

One day, I happened to be chatting with a friend of mine who lives in England (ah, such is the power of the Internet!), and I told her about this dessert. To say that she was “intrigued” by it would be an understatement. The next day, her husband sent me an e-mail; he told me that she would be arriving on the next flight from England into Orlando, and I was to pick her up and take her to that restaurant immediately! It was only a joke, but he was serious about her love for chocolate.

Well, while I could not take her to the restaurant – at least not until they came to Orlando for a visit; I did decide that maybe I could arrange for her to get a really nice chocolate gift basket. So, I did a search online for a web site that offered good gifts; good chocolate gift baskets! You would be surprised at what Yahoo and Google can find for you. The Ghirardelli’s Greatest Hits gift basket is a great example.  As it happened, TheBasketSpot.com have gifts for just about every occasion. While I could get her something for her birthday or Christmas, or even their wedding anniversary, I figured: why do I even need an occasion? There’s nothing that says a friend can’t send a friend a present just because.

I did a search for gift baskets that had a chocolate theme to them, and got a whole list of things I could order. So, I settled on one called “Chocolate Madness gift basket”. I felt it was perfect for her. For any chocolate lover you know, it is but one of the great gourmet baskets they have.
