No hard and fast rule for the contents of Gift Baskets

September 2nd, 2010

There are many people who think that only certain items need to be given as gifts.  Don’t you think there is a monotony attached to this thought?  How many ties, cuff links, shirts, books, wallets, ear rings, bracelets, etc. can one end up with?  People who want to buy gifts should start thinking differently now.  After all, times are changing and so should the gifting ideas of people.  The options are plenty and any item of daily use can also make a perfect gift.

If you are presenting your loved ones and friends with Fruit Gift Baskets, there countless varieties of items you can put into them.  You do not always have to buy something that fits inside the basket.  If you cannot think of an ideal gift for a person, you may even keep gift vouchers, so that the recipient may go to the concerned outlet and buy the items of his or her choice.  In fact it is a very good idea instead of simply imposing our taste on the person who receives the gifts.  Along with the gift vouchers, you may keep some items for immediate celebration like, chocolates, cakes, wine bottles, etc.  Ultimately, it is the thought and concern that is of utmost importance here.  Nobody would deny that.

Any occasion is good enough - Gift Baskets

August 20th, 2010

There are many who find the task of selecting gifts boring and tiresome.  There are some more that enjoy giving gifts, but happily entrust the job of buying them to someone else.  Whatever one might think or say, there is a genuine pleasure involved in the task of preparing Gift Baskets for the people you love.  At times, gifts are more eloquent than mere words or rehearsed speeches.  If you cannot find the right words to convey to a person, just give a small gift and your job is done!

You do not always have to look for the right occasions when you want to buy gifts.  There are no set rules for buying gifts.  If you had to buy gifts only for birthdays, marriages, Christmas, and anniversaries, so many businessmen would have gone bankrupt!  You can create your occasion if you want to make a person happy.  You may compliment the person with Gift Baskets for landing a lucrative job, for buying a new house, for passing an exam in flying colors, for recovering from an accident, etc.  You may pack the gift basket with items suited for the occasion and then see the difference they make to the recipient of your gifts!

Hand Bags Can be Great Get Well Gifts

July 21st, 2010

If you are going present something to someone as a get well gift, there could be nothing better that would suit them than beautiful hand bags. Even if they have a number of handbags, they would not throw away if one more is added to their collection. You may make cosmetic gift baskets using hand bags. Surely both the gift as well as the gift basket would attract them.

Collect some cosmetics like powder, perfume, soaps, sunscreen lotion, foundation creams, eye liner, etc and pack them separately in decorative wrappers. Buy a preferably round shaped hand bag to be used as gift basket. Place them all neatly so that all the items are tightly packed to give a shape to your hand bag. Now with all the small packets dumped inside, your hand bag should have formed a base.

Take some pieces of satin ribbons and make little bows and tie them on the rings and straps and decorations on the surface of the hand bag. Make it appear like a gift basket rather than like a hand bag. If the zippers are appearing in an ugly manner, tuck them in and use pins to hold them.

Stick plastic flowers on the top surface of the hand bag probably on the gift packets. Make the whole thing as attractive as possible. If your handbag comes with removable straps, then you may remove them and place them inside and use plastic handles from old gift baskets that you may have readily in your house to make it look professional. The happiness could not be measured when they find that the gift basket itself is a useful gift for them.

Wine Gift Baskets for all seasons

June 30th, 2010

Wine Gift baskets are an appropriate gift for every occasion. Halloween offers plenty of opportunity to make gift baskets. From large to small there is no end to the creativity that can go into making gift baskets for this holiday. Instead of searching endlessly t your local craft stores for black wicker baskets to use for Halloween, just get the same baskets you would normally get, then spray paint them black. Adding a Halloween DVD into your gift baskets really puts the festive mood into the season, also when making gift baskets for a family try to include an item for all the people in that household. If the family has a small child, add a children’s Halloween special to their gift baskets.

The neighborhood children will all get a treat with small plastic cauldrons filled with candy and toys. These cauldrons can usually be found at the dollar store for six for a dollar so it will not break the bank to go the extra mile this Halloween season.

One way to cut corners on your budget is to use a personal shredder to make the decorative grass for your gift baskets. Making Halloween gift baskets is one way to save money and get into the seasonal festivities. Try forming a group in your community for people that love to make gift baskets just as much as you.

Gift Baskets children will love to make at home

June 23rd, 2010

Children love to put together gift baskets. In the wintertime, with Christmas coming round, our family likes to take this time of the year to turn f the televisions and computers and spend time together around the tree making Christmas gift baskets. Even the older children can’t resist the tinsel and bows! It is a good idea to plan ahead when making Christmas gift baskets, first make a list of the friends and family you would like to make them for. And be sure that if you are making them for a family you include something in the basket for every member in that family, don’t forget a treat for the family pet.

Once you have made a list of gift basket recipients, select a day to go to the craft store to pick up supplies. Cellophane sheets are a must, and they come in so many different colors and patterns it can be hard to choose. Getting a variety of the necessities helps keep all of your gift baskets unique.

Organizing your materials helps make the process more fun for little ones, the less confusing the better. Once you have all of your supplies on hand spread them along a large table or even the floor and the children will be able to collate the items rather easily according to each of the gift baskets specifications. Making snacks like popcorn and hot coco keeps everyone in a creative fun mood while making the gift baskets.

The greatest Gift Baskets ever made

June 18th, 2010

There are many different types of gift baskets, but I found that the best gift baskets are the ones that are made at home. The advantages of making gift baskets at home are numerous, for example. Making gift baskets at home allows you to spend time with your family doing a creative project your whole family can enjoy. Also, when making gift baskets at home they tend to be less costly than buying them from a store premade, and perhaps the most important reason to make them at home would be the added benefit of bringing personal touches to you gift baskets, making them one of a kind, cherished gifts.

Gift baskets remain to be the universal gift for every holiday and occasion. And they are so much fun to make. For a get well gift one could add in homemade chicken soup in a decorative canning jar, along with hot powdered drink mixes and even a comfortable throw. For a baby shower, one could add embroidered teddy bears and baby pictures of the parents nicely framed, along with clothes and toys. Gift cards are a good way to surprise people by adding them into their gift basket, creating pouches to hold the gift card or a decorative envelope is always a fun way to go with it.

Sinfully Delicious Father’s Day Gifts

March 10th, 2010

Everyone has a special Dad in their life and would love to show them how much they appreciate them. That’s why once a year we celebrate the hard working, loving, sometimes stern and yes all knowing father. All year they work hard to make all their sons and daughters feel safe and loved with no expectaion of gain. Little do they know that their families have something oh so special planned for him on this great day.

For the father who loves to be out doors grilling for his family and working in the kitchen there are endless possibilities of great fathers day gifts. The best gift for this type of dad is one that comes from the heart and soul, not to mention the growling stomach of the hungry wife and children. A hearty basket filled with sinfully delicious BBQ sauces, marinades, fresh herbs and spices would be the ultimate Father’s Day gift for him.

This wonderful gift would be hours of fun and enjoyment for him as well as for the awaiting members of the family. You could also include specialty cuts of meat that he adores and sometimes does without. Not to mention that you can show off your skills on the grill to let him know just how much you understand and appreciate him. That to him would mean the world and of course such a hard working man deserves to be spoiled, even if it is only once a year.

Plants and Planters as Sympathy Gifts

March 3rd, 2010

Flowers are often given as sympathy gifts but do consider that plants and planters far outlast them and may be enjoyed for weeks, months, even years to come.  They also quietly and insistently require the bereaved person’s involvement with life, and with caring for life, so your gift has a positive emotional impact as well.  Here are some tips for making choices.  Making a classic choice of a decorative container means it will be treasured even if this plant outgrows it or dies off.

First, make sure the recipient will be able to receive and care for the gift.  For example, a person who has traveled some distance will not be able to take a plant home on an airplane or across an international border; nor will someone who is going to have to be out-of-town for some time be able to care for the plant.

Second, insure that your choice is healthy, sturdy and not likely to provoke allergies.  Third, if you choose a planter, make sure that it is well planted but not so crowded that replanting will be necessary very soon.  Fourth, if plant food is required, supply a container.  Last, make sure that any instructions for plant care are attached to your sympathy gift.

Prudent Easter baskets for your kids

March 1st, 2010

For those who are planning to gift kids Easter baskets then why not fill the baskets with some sensible and wise gifts that would make them smarter and make them more exited and fun filled and are items that are perfectly healthy unlike chocolates and fried items which are not at all a healthy. Instead of gifting the kids with lot of chocolates why not think of books that can increase the knowledge of the children. There are lots of books available in stores and which you can order online to add to your gift basket.

A set of crayons along with coloring books included in the Easter baskets would encourage the children to be more creative and innovative. Toys of various calibers are gifts that kids would love to have and would be really happy on getting them hence a gift basket with toys and puzzles would make kids happy. There are a huge variety of toys and selecting them according to the kids age would be appropriate and your kids can easily learn how play them. Filling the Easter baskets with sensible items would make your kid more intelligent and they would enjoy peeping through the contents and exploring  them.

Give Graduation Gifts to your young ones

February 25th, 2010

All parents wait for this day with bated breath!  No happiness on earth can be equated with this.  When the apple of their eyes passes the crucial exam in flying colors, parents dance with pride and jubilation.  The best reward a child can give his or her parents is not letting them down academically.

So, as a parent, what do you do when your child does extremely well in the final year of degree?  Should you not be rewarding him or her with a memorable token of appreciation?  Agreed that you have invested money, time and energy to see this day, but a small compliment in the form of Graduation Gifts will thrill the child to no end.  This is how you can acknowledge the sincere hard work put in by your children.  The size of the gift does not matter, but the thought and love behind it will keep the children motivated in future too and their good performance will continue.  You could be innovative, imaginative and thoughtful by giving a nice gift basket.  You could think of something which would help them in their future courses or something that would kindle fond memories every time they look at what you have gifted them.

For Graduates, A Photo Album

February 22nd, 2010

Most graduates probably would not put “a photo album” at the top of their list of desired graduate gifts. That is why this is the perfect gift to give. Photo albums can take many forms: from a comprehensive documentation of important family moments to an album of a specific event your graduate loved. There may be a time your graduate has forgotten (falling off the bike when they were six) or a time your graduate never knew (a photo of their grandparents) – all things that have contributed to his/her success. A photo album will be the most emotional gift you can give your graduate. Every picture will provoke a different reaction, from laughter, to frowning, to nostalgia.

If possible, put as much personality as you can into your photo album. Not only will it show your graduate that you did not simply throw a bunch of pictures together into an expensive book, but it will encourage him/her to revisit it. Have family members write little notes or captions to accompany each picture. To top it off, end the album with pictures from your graduate’s graduation ceremony. This will show them that they are important and loved, that their graduation marks an end as much as it does a beginning.

Framed Photo Collage Great Gift for Retiring Coworker

February 21st, 2010

Do you have a co-worker or employee retiring in the near future?  Now is the time to start working on a retirement gift that will really show your gratitude for all her years of service, and wish her well as she enters a new phase in her life?  If you have access to a good digital camera, creating a framed photo collage would be a gracious and thoughtful gift to give.

A framed photo collage is an extremely personalized gift, and will mean much more to your retiring coworker than a generic gift certificate you got on your lunch break at the restaurant down the street.  As opportunity arises, take candid snapshots of her co-workers mugging for the camera, and intersperse them with any older photos you have of the retiring coworker.  Be sure to include photos of any awards or plaques she has won during her length of employment.  When you have between eight to ten really great photos, take them to your nearest drugstore or photo lab to be professionally developed, and then to an art store for an equally professional framing job.  Your coworker will be genuinely touched by your thoughtfulness, and by the visual impressiveness of your gift.

Looking for Great Housewarming Gift Ideas?

February 20th, 2010

There are many things you can bring to a housewarming party.  Here are some things that may help you in your quest to find a nice, traditional housewarming gift, don’t be too сliché buyting things people will never use, or enjoy.

One good idea would be buying a painting to hang ont he wall.  You can find these easily at yard sales.  Some paintings people will sell for 5 dollars, when they are really worth 500.  A nice surprise if the homeowner ever researchs the painting!  Make sure it has a signature somewhere on it and that it looks clean.

Another idea is stained glass vases and flowers.  Depending on who it is for, this can be a great housewarming gift.  Stained glasses and flowers are in many homes, and there never seems to be a lack of room for them.  Try to pick neutral colors, such as a pinkish purple or a very light green.  Glass fruits in a bowl are a good idea as well.

If you want to go unconventional, you can get them a blender.  Not many people use a blender, but will use one.  It is a gift they will be sure to enjoy, but don’t get a cheap one!  Also make sure you are the only one getting them it, others may.  You don’t want to add to the problem of them ending up with 3 blenders!

Ideas of Easter baskets for adults

February 18th, 2010

When people think about Easter baskets, the first thing that comes in mind is to take them for kids. But these are not just for children and adults too wait and enjoy their favorite gifts on Easter. In fact if you pay attention to the recipient and his passion, more and more ideas will pop up in your mind. If the person is more interested to fix things and enjoys that, you can give him the handyman basket with all the tools he usually requires.

One of the most appreciated gift basket for Easter could be a gamer basket. Think about the person and you will immediately know which game fascinates him or her and you can fill the basket with lucky charms and scratch tickets. Make the lucky charm with a key chain that includes a pair of dice and four-leaf cover. You can also present poker chips if the person has a passion for playing poker.

In fact there are various ideas for Easter baskets like a sports lover’s basket that can have a T-shirt with his favorite team printed on it along with the baseball or golf ball in the basket along with the other stuffs. You can even present a beautiful cell phone to your teenager kid and see him scream with joy.

Sympathy Gifts

February 15th, 2010

We as a human after all have a soft heart. We do sympathize to many people who are poor and needy. But do we offer any thing to them? Most of us don’t. This is because we just sympathize and do not intend to feel for the pain and suffering other person is in. Therefore we must develop a habit of giving. There is a famous saying which goes like this “give and forget, but do not forget to give; asking is a necessity, do it as much less as you can; and finally give as much you can, if you can’t give much at least give hope, but do not give false hope.

So, in order to be happy we must spread happiness. It is something which increases exponentially by sharing. One must at least distribute sympathy gifts from his income to poor and needy, or to someone who is suffering. A gift of sympathy in the form of get well gifts is also a great way of spreading happiness. And the person in question also knows that he/she has someone to look upon. Finally we must develop a habit to sharing what we have in excess, this is because human hunger has no limits. But when you give to others then alone you will learn the true value of what you have.

Make your own amazing Easter baskets

February 13th, 2010

No one can imagine an Easter without an Easter basket. Kids wait for this most anticipated holiday. They hang out with family and friends, enjoy and have fun. Although it is a carefree holiday for kids, adults have the responsibility to make or buy attractive and special baskets for each one. It includes kids, friends, family members and your special guests as well.

If you search for an Easter gift basket with special stuffs, it can easily go beyond your budget. If you have some creative ideas and you know the person or the kid well, you can easily create the Easter baskets on your own. The first thing is that try to visualize the recipient and then his likes, dislikes, fantasies and passion. This will give you lot of ideas and you can select the best one from them.

If you are looking for Easter baskets for kids and if they are below 10 years of age, you can make them happy with lots of toys, sweets, candies and other tasty treats that are appropriate for the holiday season. To surprise them all you can plan for a small but good vacation to the place your whole family was looking forward to.

Personalize Your Father’s Day Gifts for the First-Time Dad

February 12th, 2010

Do you know someone who became a dad for the first time this year?  Celebrating Father’s Day for the first time is a truly unique experience, but it can sometimes be overshadowed by the hoopla and extravaganza around a first-time mom’s inaugural Mother’s Day.  Make sure the first-time father you know isn’t left in the shadows, with a thoughtful, personalized Father’s Day gift.

A great way to honor first-time dads is to treat them to something they haven’t had a chance to do in a while.  Maybe that’s tickets to a major league baseball game, or a night out on the town with their wife.  With the tickets or gift certificates, include an IOU coupon for babysitting duty.  The dad in your life will really appreciate it.

Another great gift idea is to personalize the Father’s Day gift.  If the first-time dad is a java junkie, for example, buy him a stainless steel coffee mug with a photo of him and his little one on the front.  Include a great bag of ground coffee beans with the gift.  He’ll enjoy taking the mug to the office and showing off his baby on his coffee breaks.  It’s like the 21st century version of the old wallet stuffed with baby photos!

Fun twists on chocolate covered strawberries

February 11th, 2010

Chocolate covered strawberries are a pretty standard dessert item. The ingredients are pretty basic-strawberries, melted chocolate, and…that’s it! You wouldn’t imagine there could be too much you can do to spice up this classic dessert. But with a little work and a lot of ingenuity, you can make chocolate covered strawberries that are all your own and that your guests won’t soon forget.

The first basic change you can make is the dipping chocolate. You can start by offering your guests a variety of chocolate options. Rather than just dipping your strawberries in milk chocolate, why not add dark and white too? You can also give your dipping chocolate itself a makeover. If you’re using pre-made chocolate or melting your own, add a little cinnamon and nutmeg before you dip. If you’re really adventurous, put some (not too much!) ground cayenne pepper in the mix. The combination of the creamy chocolate, sweet and tart berry, and slightly spicy pepper will make each little strawberry an experience.

If you want to give your berries a visual makeover, too, there are more options than you might imagine. First, consider making a mixed berry platter rather than just dipping strawberries. The dipping may be a little harder, but the variety of berry flavors will be a feast for the eyes and the palate. Also try artfully decorating your strawberries. Dip in multiple colors of chocolate to give them a contrast effect, or if you’re especially artistic, try adding dark chocolate designs to a pre-dipped white background. Let your imagination go wild, and remember that, no matter what experiments you try, it will still be delicious in the end!

Belated Sympathy – It’s Never Too Late to Express Your Concern

January 12th, 2010

This has happened to every one at one point or another:  you meant to send a sympathy card, but you got busy or overwhelmed, and the card or sympathy gift you bought sat unsent on your kitchen counter.  The saying “better late than never” may be a cliché, but clichés are usually well-known because of their truths.  Kindness, whenever shown, always applies in these situations.

Many times, people are anxious or embarrassed to send a sympathy gift after the fact; they are afraid the bereaved will think less of them.  In reality, someone who is grieving will more than likely be touched by any expression of concern you can share, regardless of the timeline.  They are still dealing with their loss, so a simple note saying, “Still thinking of you”, or “My prayers are still with you” will be truly heart-felt.

A specific time that is difficult for many grieving people is the anniversary of their loss.  It frequently goes uncommented on, because their friends and loved ones don’t want to “remind” them of their bereavement.  Again, any sort of outreach during this time will be appreciated and treasured, whether it’s a phone call, a handwritten card, or a donation to their charity of choice.  The worst thing you can do for a grieving person is nothing, because it ignores the fact that a life-altering event has occurred.

Great Christmas Gift Basket Ideas

December 10th, 2009

The choices for what to include in a Christmas gift basket are endless. Whether you make the basket yourself, or if you are buying one that is already made, it is important to think about who the gift basket is for. You don’t want to get a gift basket of wine and cheese for a person who doesn’t drink alcohol.

One type of gift basket that is good for everyone is a gift card basket. Choose a few different gift cards for a person. You can put some cards for restaurants, some for a specialty store, and some for a department store. Almost all retailers have a gift card available and many have a Christmas motif displayed on the cards. This is a gift that will keep giving year round since the person can choose when to use the gift cards.

If you are giving the basket to someone who lives in a different part of the country; include some local favorites that they can’t get where they are. What may be a commonplace meal to one person can be a rare treat to someone else. Make sure that if you send food that any perishable items are clearly marked with instructions for care.

Whatever you decide to give to someone, don’t forger a card. If you don’t than how will the person know who it is from. The card also finishes off the personal touch that is a very important of Christmas gift baskets.

How to shop for a birthday gift?

October 11th, 2009

In order to choose the right birthday gift, one needs to really know the person who will be celebrating it. Unless one knows that, one cannot perfect the art of presenting an apt gift to anyone! On getting an idea about the kind of things they like and what they do in their everyday lives one can probably deduce what they would probably like as a birthday gift.

The longer one knows someone the more one knows about that person. This is important while choosing the perfect birthday gift for the person. While thinking about birthday gifts, one needs to consider the age of the person as well and plan to present a gift appropriate for the age. One of the most common things people do is send a birthday card with money. This is the easiest form of gift to be given on someone’s birthday. This allows the person to buy a gift of his/her own choice though, but doing this, doesn’t make things very special.

Also knowing what the person doesn’t like would be a great point to begin with. For example, if they don’t have an aquarium at home, then buying something aquarium related is not going to be a great gift. Typical Checklist For Generating Birthday Gift Ideas would comprise of things like whether the person is married, his/her ethnicity, status of children, having pets?, hobbies, interests in sports, cars and other cultures, and a variety of others too.

Once one knows who the person is and what he/she actually likes, one can then start planning what gift they will truly appreciate. A gift that reflects the persons personality and is personalized too, gets to be noticed the most ! And as long as the focus is on the receiver and not ‘just’ the gift itself, one can’t go far wrong.

A good idea is for a birthday gift will be the one that will enhance one of their hobbies or favorite activities. For instance, if the person has interest in music, visit a store and find a great CD player or something they don’t have, like an MP3 player. Other typical hobbies may include things such as hiking, gardening, sports, art and playing a musical instrument such as the drums, keyboards, guitars. So, hit the right chord and buy such a gift that only enhances their interests. It will not only be a memorable gift but the receiver would always be thankful, each time they make use of it.

For most adult woman lingerie, soft toys, candles, imitation/real jewelry, flowers, candy, perfumes, and other clothing items are just a few things most commonly bought. For most adult men its action sports items, various tools, fishing equipment, or cloths. For kids and teens, a bit of research on the cool new toys or video games normally would suffice. Asking a person is a direct way of knowing what they want, but it won’t be much of a surprise. It also takes away a lot of the much special factor. Home made items or self-made items are a very personal way to show someone how much one cares and how much the person is special.

At-last, another wonderful idea that spans across all the genre of people would be a gift basket which would comprise of small/big things of the interest of the person. It would not only catch attention to see so many things, but also one would be relieved of likes/dislikes of person. A research on their likes/dislikes however, in this case too is always advisable.

Chocolate covered Strawberries are a Healthy Dessert?

September 18th, 2009

One of the most delicious flavor combination’s on the planet, ever, is chocolate covered strawberries. So simple in conception, just the two elements; each is uniquely tasty on its own. Yet together they form a divine union. The delicate fresh sweetness of a ripe strawberry, ruby red and tumescent, juicy, coated in a rich velvety layer of darker creamier sweet, almost smoky from its cacao content, can be at once cool and light but warm and filling.

Perhaps the most satisfying component of chocolate covered strawberries is their health benefits. Strawberries and chocolate are both high in antioxidants. Antioxidants are substances which bind with free radicals in the body, stabilizing them. Free radicals are unstable molecules produced by the digestive process that are linked with chronic diseases like cancer and heart-lung issues. So, by consuming antioxidants, you help reduce your cancer, lung, and heart-disease risk.

But between the two, which do you think has more antioxidants, strawberries or chocolate? The surprising answer is chocolate. Dark chocolate has nearly eight times the antioxidants contained in strawberries. In chocolate, the antioxidants are flavonoids (the pigments found in plants such as dark vegetables). Scientific study shows that Flavonoids also help produce nitric oxide, which reduces blood pressure.

You will love your gift baskets with cookie bouquets

August 31st, 2009

Have you ever known what it is to lie sick or injured in a hospital for a number of days?  If you have ever had the forgettable experience of being hospitalized due to some infection or an accident, it can be terrible not having to do anything throughout the day.  More so, if you are not used to sitting or lying in one place for long.

If you ever have the opportunity of visiting any of friends or acquaintances, who has been hospitalized for some reason, do not please visit the person empty handed, thinking that only verbal assurance or your mere presence would do.  Carrying some gift with you would show that you care for the person and want him or her to get better soon.   You do not have carry any lavish gift too.  Sometimes a simple get well card also will do the trick and will work like a magic medicine.  Still better, carry some cookie bouquets containing delicious and delectable eatables and make it a point enjoy it with the patient.  The decorated gift baskets also will be appreciated greatly and preserved too as they will carry lovely memories of the visit even after the cookies are exhausted.  One great way of spending time is eating tasty cookies with the person you love.  You would have done your good deed for the day.
