Sweets for the Sweet: Grand Holiday Greetings Gift Basket

The holidays are times for indulgences in foods, wines, delicious cookies, cakes, chocolate and candies. I have always have had a sweet tooth, finding it near impossible to turn down a piece of cheesecake or a creamy piece of chocolate. A Grand Holiday Greetings Gift Basket, eggnog topped with fresh grated nutmeg, family and friends, makes for a perfect holiday afternoon. Sweet holiday candies such as, candy canes, chocolates with gooey caramel, chocolate nut clusters and fondant are hard to resist.

My grandmother makes the most magnificent lemon bars every holiday, that I can’t help eating, for breakfast, lunch and dinner. My Aunt bakes huge trays of Russian teacakes. My mother bakes a creamy and delicious ricotta cheesecake every year for the holidays that as far as I am concerned, is perfect for breakfast. Special sweets from the bakery including, cream cakes, fruitcakes, cannolis, cupcakes and glazed fruit tarts are also delectable. Sweets are an indulgence that brings out the sweet in all of us.

School Shopping Blues

The start of school is just around the corner, and that means it is time for back to school shopping. School shopping is every parent’s nightmare. Spending countless hours in shopping malls trying to find all the “in” clothing, that will both please our children and not break the bank, can be exhausting. After a tiring day of purchasing new clothing, shoes and school supplies, it is time to sit down and enjoy some treats from baskets of gourmet food. Some delicious cheese, crispy crackers and a glass of chilled wine take all the stress of the day away.

After hours of wandering through malls and eating meals at fast food restaurants, a tasty and nourishing snack from a gift basket can make the day seem a little brighter. Instead of high fat hamburgers and French fries, try some roasted cashews, Spanish olive cheese or artichoke Parmesan cheese straws, for a delicious change of pace. A juicy apple or pear, will round off the casual meal. After a few gourmet goodies, you will have the energy to once again, brave the back to school shopping crowds.

Christmas Gift Baskets

Deciding what to gift to our loved ones on Christmas can become an ordeal. No matter how hard we try we can’t always recollect the personal preferences of each individual we know. However, we do need to give them Christmas presents, hoping they would like them. To play safe, we can give an assortment of gifts in the form of a Christmas gift basket. The selection of presents that go into the basket, determines the outcome of our efforts. However, you can rest assured that the person getting the gift basket, will like at least one of the articles contained therein.

Christmas is a time for celebration and joy. Therefore avoid putting sundry articles of daily use into the gift basket. Try to be creative in gift selection. Chocolates, pendants, caskets, jewelry, electronic gadgets, gift vouchers, cakes etc. can be put inside a Christmas gift basket. Although you can buy Christmas gift baskets from off-the-shelf counters of malls, it is best to customize a gift basket to give your own touch. People can easily tell which gift basket is bought in a flurry and which one has been customized.

The Happy Couple Needs a Little Push

My sister and her husband are about to celebrate their anniversary. Sweet, No? Yes, and it’s even more sweet knowing that they have been married a total of 33 years! I don’t know how they did it, considering that no one thought they would make it past year two, but they did, and I’m very happy for them.

With this big anniversary coming up I’ve been trying to decide what the heck to get for them. They really have everything they need. They have the nice house full of nice things and the nice lifestyle with lots of toys like a boat and a home music studio. My sister always says, “We need nothing. So don’t get us nothing”. But hey, it’s an important date and I want to be helpful.

The one thing they don’t have a lot of is spark left in their relationship. They are in love no doubt, but anniversaries are for romance, don’t you agree? So this year I’m giving my sister and her husband a gift basket with gourmet food and wine. They can have a picnic with all the tasty goodies and sip some really fine wine and that will set the stage for a little romance. What else can you give a couple that has everything?

Buried Treasure

Henry Plummer was one of Montana’s most notorious outlaws. Born in Maine, he was in and out of trouble all his life, constantly on the run. As evil as he was, he was also charming. In Montana he set out to become sheriff of Bannack and Virginia City simultaneously. He was convincing enough to be elected and immediately hired two of his henchmen. This gave him a wide area to police. Eventually his reputation caught up with him and some came to believe he was a part of a group of criminals called the Road Agents. Rumors flew of him having over one hundred thousand dollars hidden. It was never proven or disproven that he was part of a gang, but was hanged anyways. His treasure was never found. You can own your own treasure with the Golden Gourmet gift basket or send it to your favorite outlaw!

Whatcha Doing Tomorrow?

I’m painting. After numerous deadbeat renters, who had no respect for other peoples property, trashed the rental house my husband and I decided to call it quits and sell. All my free time ( which isn’t much, believe me ) the past few weeks have been filled with mudding, sanding and painting the walls and replacing and painting the trim.

Ripping out carpet, and cleaning the bathroom were the two nastiest jobs. I don’t think the previous tenants ever cleaned the bathroom. It was black from dirt and grime. When I am through, I am gonna need a hot bath, soothing music, candlelight, wine and a massage. Anyone a masseuse or masseur?

Luscious Chocolate

Oh that chocolate. Wonderful creamy, sweet chocolate. White chocolate, milk chocolate, dark chocolate; it doesn’t matter, it is all delicious! Doctors are always telling us how bad chocolate is for you. My own personal belief is if it helps reduce stress, a piece of chocolate is good for you!

Everything in excess is dangerous, but if us sensible adults moderate our chocolate intake, it is perfectly fine to have some. Chocolate makes one of the best gifts. The only downfall is it tends to melt when sent in hot weather. Next time you need a present for a special someone, consider a gift basket of chocolate.

Cure What Ails Them

When someone is sick, injured or recovering from surgery one way to speed their recovery is to take their mind off of their problems. A phone call or a visit is the traditional way to cheer them up, but I like to take it a step further. There is a great gift basket that is guaranteed to bring happiness. The Get Well Cabinet is filled with my kind of medicine! Not only does it have chicken noodle soup and gourmet bottled water, it also comes with chocolates, candies, and other sweets.

Next time you pay a visit to someone down and out, don’t forget to grab one of these Get Well Cabinets.

Birthday Baskets

Birthdays are fantastic occasions to give gift baskets.  What birthday boy or girl wouldn’t love to find one of these gorgeous baskets on their porch step or see you walking through their door with a wonderfully presented basket of gourmet goodies all tied up with a huge bow? One of my favoite Birthday baskets is the Cookie Mania gift basket. This basket is sure to widen eyes and satisfy any sweet tooth! It has a huge collection of cookies from walnut to butter pecan. It even comes with a cookie plate and a crumb towel.

What Was That For?

Have you ever given someone a gift “just because”? I have. Many times I have picked out a gift for someone even though there is no reason. I like surprising my friends and family. Why wait for a holiday, birthday, or other occasion? People suspect there may be a gift during those times. Throw them off and really make their day by presenting a beautiful gift basket on a non-holiday.

Many people need pick me ups throughout the year or just reminders that someone is thinking of them. So go ahead and surprise someone with a cheery gift basket. One really nice “anytime” basket is the A Delightful Surprise basket. It has everything needed to brighten someones day and is wonderful any time of the year.

Benefits of Custom Made gifts

Custom made gifts will bring a smile and warmth to the heart of whoever receives them. One gorgeous gift that is easily customized is a gift basket. Customized baskets allow you to decide what goes in it according to the recipients tastes. Many companies offer a wide selection of items for you to choose from. If you would rather have a pre-made gift basket, all you have to do is add a little something to customize it. You can tape a movie or game to the outside of a basket or snuggle a gift card down into one. The options are endless and the choice is yours.

Independence Day

How did you celebrate your 4th of July weekend?

My family and I celebrated Independence day in a small town called Madisonville, TX.  We played volleyball, swam, played basketball, and ate bunches of barbecue.

I gave my mom a summer fun barbecue gift basket in remembrance of our Independence.

Pets

New pet owners will delight in the Congrats on Your New Pooch basket. It is full of items for Fluffy and for the new dog owner. Their dog will get a brush, shampoo chew toys and more! The happy mom or dad will get a memo pad, keychain, magnetic pet frame and some cute dog lover’s pasta. If the pet isn’t a new addition, there are other baskets that will fit any theme or occasion. There are even cat gift baskets and unique horse gift baskets.  Surprise a pet owner today. They will be astounded at your thoughtfulness.

Gifts with That Personal Touch

Gifts with some thought put in them will be remembered for years. Gifts with a personal touch will be remembered for decades. One neat way to personalize a gift basket is by tucking a custom decorated photo album in the basket along with the goodies.

It’s easy to do. just go buy one of those cheap 4×7 albums, cover it with different textured cloths and designs, add photos of special moments and memories, spruce it up with some cool stickers or pasted on cloth shapes, and you’re done! A quick and inexpensive way to give your gift basket an added touch.

The best gifts are ones that have personality. These gifts reach out and grab the recipients attention and are remembered for a longtime. Uniqueness is one feature all gifts with personality have. When shopping for that perfect gift, look for one that relates to whomever is going to receive it.

If he or she likes chocolates, gift baskets with lots of variety will fit the bill. Some gourmet baskets will speak to the seafood lover with salmon and caviar. Health conscious people will adore fruit baskets. Remembering small details about the recipient and incorporating them into the gift will ensure a memorable present.

The Joys of Gift Baskets

Giving a gift doesn’t have to be expensive. There are many ways to give someone a great gift without breaking the bank. Gift baskets are wonderful and inexpensive. Not only are they easy on your wallet, they give a lot of little gifts to the recipient.

Whoever receives a gift basket from you will delight in discovering all the gourmet treats stuffed in there. There are also so many themes to pick from that you are sure to find one to fit anyone on your list. Make it easy on yourself next time you are looking for that unique gift, buy a basket full of goodies!

Giving Time, Not Money

Volunteering is a great way to give back to your community and the world. Money is great, food is nice, but the gift of time is priceless. When you volunteer, it shows you are willing to give of yourself which is the best gift of all.

Some great volunteer ideas are reading to the elderly, walking dogs at the local shelter,  cleaning a local park, and  helping out at the public library.

Time is one of the best gifts, but if you cannot give time, consider giving a theme appropriate a gift basket to be raffled off during a fund raiser. Your receiving charity will be thankful for such a thoughtful idea.

Rainy Day Fun

Stuck inside on a Saturday due to increment weather? Did you have big outside plans with your special hunny? No worries! Make the best out of the rainy day situation. Have a romantic picnic inside. Your sweetie will be awed by the sight of a gorgeous picnic spread out on the living room floor. All it takes is a traditional checkered piece of cloth, a delicious gift basket full of gourmet treats and a bottle of good smooth wine. Put on some soft music and enjoy the day. The best part about inside picnics…no ants!

Celebrating our Special Dads

Yes, it’s almost that time of year again, when scores of vendors will be suggesting what YOU can do to prove your undying love for that unflappable patriarch of the family, the father. Father’s Day is celebrated around the world, though the dates vary by geographical locale.

Traditionally Father’s Day involves the giving of a gift of some sort, which tends to get the salespeople in electronics and home improvement stores salivating. While the commercial interests of Father’s day can be debated, it most certainly should be a day to spend quality time with family members engaging in enjoyable activities. Don’t stress the gift thing for Dad, just buy a fathers day gift basket and get on with the family fun!

Who Doesn’t Love a party?

Birthdays are fun and exciting for everyone. I love birthday parties! Mingling with friend and family is priceless, watching the special person’s face as they open each gift makes me smile, and don’t forget the cake. The glorious, sweet, moist birthday cake.   I don’t eat sweets except during special occasions, so I am a birthday party junkie.

I live for the day someone grows older! Gimme a reason to buy a gift basket and entice me with cake, (luscious, sugary cake..mmm) and I am guaranteed to be there. Anyone having a birthday soon?

What do I Give Him Now?

There are so many gift-giving events in our culture that I have trouble remembering what I have given friends and family members in the past. Let’s use my husband as an example. I buy him a gift for his birthday, Christmas, Father’s Day, Valentine’s Day, and our anniversary each year. He is extremely difficult to buy for because he buys himself everything he wants.

So, I have created a spreadsheet to track all the gifts I give to him and other family members and friends. That way, I never have to worry about repeating gifts. I still have difficulty coming up with gift ideas but at least I don’t give him the same thing for his birthday that I got him for Christmas. Gift baskets make it easier because of the wide selection available.

Happy May Day!

May is a month of flowers and love. The traditions of May date back to the Romans. They would honor and worship Flora, the goddess of flowers, with a 5 day celebration. This celebration, the Floralia, was eventually brought to the British Isles. The Druids even adopted some rituals into their Beltane festival. Modern day May Day traditions bear a striking resemblance to ancient Floralia celebrations.

Native Americans named the May full moon the Flower Moon because of May being the main month
for flower growing. In celebration of May and the Flower Moon, I have found a great basket I’d like to share. The Three Winds Sauvignon Blanc Basket comes with a great bottle of wine along with gardening tools and seeds. It’s the perfect gift for Mom this spring.

Rebate Checks Are Coming!

The big debate recently is what will we do with our rebate checks. The government wants us to spend it at retailers, thinking it will boost the economy and help alleviate a recession. Unfortunately, mine will go to bills. I may give myself $20.00 to buy the kids some new toys, but the rest will go to pay for electricity, phone, and other bills I owe.

Will you spend yours like the government wants or will you pay bills? Will you will save it or will you buy gifts for yourself or other people who deserve something nice?

Colossal Fruit Gift Basket

Warm weather is coming soon. With the arrival of higher temperatures, we tend to eat lighter and cooler foods. Fruits are always a great food item for warm days. The Colossal Fruit Basket is loaded down with gorgeous fruit hand chosen for their freshness. The smell alone is enough to delight anyone’s senses.

Some of the juicy, in-season fruits may include apples, oranges, grapes, pears, coconuts, pineapples, kiwis, nectarines and bananas. Fruit selections will vary by season and delivery location. There is enough fruit included in this handsome basket to feed the entire family. These baskets make great gifts for anyone including newlyweds and parents to be.

Orphans Preferred

“Wanted. Young, skinny, wiry fellows. Not over 18. Must be expert riders. Willing to risk death daily. Orphans preferred.” This was a help wanted ad in a California Newspaper back in 1860. The Pony Express began it’s mail delivery system on April 3rd, of that year. This United States service opened the fastest communication lines across the nation during that time period. It cut down mail delivery to ten days. TEN DAYS!

And to think we complain about a 2 day delivery time. Luckily mail delivery has improved dramatically.  TheBasketSpot.com can deliver next day if needed. Most normal ground shipping times are 5-8 days. As long as you order in time. you won’t ever have to worry that your gift will arrive late.

Go Fast Boys!

Oh the smell of exhaust, screech of tires, and the roar of the crowd. Nascar season is upon us. My driver retired this year and I am at a dilemma of who to follow now. I want to pick someone who hold the same values as I do.

Nascar has grown tremendously over the years. More and more people are enjoying watching the sport. Many summer parties are based on Nascar car races.  Know a Nascar lover? Send them the Victory Lap Treat basket or take it to the next race party you attend. It is sure to be a winner.
