Send Gift Baskets for Women, Watch Them Cry

The sisterhood of women. There have been movies about it and books about it, but if you’re not a woman yourself, you probably can’t quite comprehend the whole idea of it. Watch the movie and you see three or four women going about their lives, working in normal businesses and being moms and wives. Then they go out for a night on the town or a day at the beach with their kids where they’re shown interacting with the kids and with each other.

To the untrained male eye, they’re just some women out having fun. Taking care of their kids is just what they do. But the women know that there’s a whole lot more to this night out or day at the beach than just having fun. Fun is part of it but not the whole story.

Women are on the same wave length with each other. From young women to mature women, they all have the same feelings, needs and wants. And a big one of those wants is to be accepted by other females. How do women go about this? One thing they do is talk, which is actually another need that women share.

They begin by talking about everyday things like what their kids did yesterday, how they got the dog upchuck off the rug, why their husband has to watch football every weekend. But before long, they branch off into more intimate tales. Since many of them have experienced similar feelings along the way, they can all commiserate with each other and the bonding begins.

Soon they’re discussing details about their lives that their men don’t even know. How it feels to do this or that. Sicknesses they’ve known. Yes, childbirth stories in great detail and probably even how they got pregnant in the first place. And pretty soon, they’re surreptitiously wiping their eyes at the other’s stories. They all cry over the same movies, the same books. They all know why they cry, but it’s hard for men to understand tears that are from emotion rather than sadness.

Even though they tell their men, “Don’t spend the money,” they all really want flowers on their birthdays and are envious of their co-workers who get those bouquets delivered regularly to them at work, although they’d never say so. They’re too busy admiring the other gal’s flowers. Send gift baskets for women and they’ll spend hours searching through the basket to find the smallest crumb or flower petal to admire.

Give an electric skillet and they’ll love that too and profess that it’s really the only thing they wanted. But in the backs of their minds, they know how much they would have liked a pair of earrings picked out by their guy, all by himself.

So from tears of joy to tears of compassion, from electric skillets to gift baskets for women, if you’re not one of them, you never will be and never will understand what makes them tick, no matter how hard you try or how much you think you have it figured out. Women all know what the others think and what they mean when they say certain things. That’s how it’s always been and how it always will be. It’s just hard to explain to non-women.
